The purpose of this presentation is to describe the effect of a low-fat, plant-based, whole-food diet on increasing insulin sensitivity and improving glycemic control in people with type 1 diabetes and type 1.5 diabetes (LADA, latent autoimmune diabetes in adults).

Using a combination of peer-reviewed scientific evidence, personal data, and data from our online coaching program, I will demonstrate how a low-fat, plant-based, whole-food diet can reverse insulin resistance in those living with autoimmune diabetes and minimize the risk for long-term complications, and present data that demonstrate why low-carbohydrate and ketogenic diets increase chronic disease risk in the long-term.

Medical professionals that care for people with diabetes may find this information very counterintuitive because it presents a counter perspective to the standard of care, and demonstrates the safety and efficacy of low-fat, plant-based, whole-food nutrition for children and adults living with autoimmune diabetes.
