From Clinic to Home: Empowering School Age Kids to Be Healthy
Whether you work with kids as a pediatric provider or a parent, learn innovative ways to help kids (and their families) adopt healthier lifestyles. This interactive workshop using hands-on activities will focus on improving four lifestyle medicine areas for school age kids: whole food, plant based nutrition, physical activity, sleep and stress management. Providers will have opportunities to review and practice use of lifestyle medicine tools to meet individualized goals for the school aged child.
Families are invited to attend with their children from KG to 6th grade to participate in a kid-friendly discussion and activities throughout the workshop.
- Review current guidelines for nutrition, physical activity, sleep and stress management in the school aged child.
- Identify at least one evidence-based intervention and clinical tool to improve each of the following in the school aged child: whole food, plant based nutrition, physical activity, sleep and stress management.
- Outline how to develop individualized lifestyle medicine action plans including a focus on development of SMART goals.
