As an innovative leader in preventive medicine and public health, Dr. Lianov has advanced the lifestyle medicine movement in the US and internationally. She serves as the Chair of the Happiness Science and Positive Health Committee of the American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM), lead faculty for the ACLM Health Provider Well-Being Program, vice-chair of the American Board of Lifestyle Medicine, and President of the Health and Wellness Division of the International Positive Psychology Association. She received the 2015 Distinguished Service Award from the American College of Preventive Medicine (ACPM)–where she served on the board for five years. Dr. Lianov is the lead author for the 2010 publication in the Journal of the American Medical Association that unveiled the lifestyle medicine core competencies for physicians, recommended by a national blue ribbon panel of health professional organizations. In her roles as ACLM past president and chair of the Lifestyle Medicine Task Force of ACPM, Dr. Lianov spurred early awareness about the critical need for lifestyle interventions not only to prevent, but also treat and reverse lifestyle-related diseases. She continues as the lead faculty for the first of its kind intensive lifestyle medicine curriculum sponsored by ACPM and ACLM. Dr. Lianov initiated the Healthier Life Steps program at the American Medical Association, while serving as its Healthy Lifestyles Division Director. She passionately advocates for healthy lifestyles skills and environments to public and professional audiences through her presentations, publications and digital applications. She especially aims to enhance lifestyle medicine outcomes with an emphasis on positive psychology and emotional well-being. not only as core mechanisms to support patients in behavior change, but also as independent protective health factors. Dr. Lianov founded HealthType LLC to develop, implement and promote such innovative strategies for advancing the field.
