Dean Sherzai, MD, MAS, MPH, PhD (c), is the co-director of the Alzheimer’s Prevention Program at Loma Linda University. He is also currently the Co-director of the Healthy Minds Initiative at Beach Cities Health District, which is the only district wide brain health initiative as well as the largest community wide research project looking at the influence of a comprehensive lifestyle intervention on cognitive aging. Previously Dean was the director of Alzheimer’s Prevention Program at Cedars-Sinai Medical center and led their brain health initiative and research program. From 2008-2014 Dean also served as the Director of the Memory and Aging center at Loma Linda University and it is there that he studied and found the ground breaking relationship of lifestyle and cognitive health and dementia.
Dean trained in Neurology at Georgetown University School of Medicine, and completed fellowships in neurodegenerative diseases and Experimental therapeutics at the National Institutes of Health and UC San Diego. He is also at the tail end of a PhD in Healthcare Leadership with a focus on community health from Andrews University, and has completed a Masters in Advanced science from UCSD and a MPH in Nutrion from Loma Linda University.
