Dr Cheryl True wears a variety of hats, including a bike helmet! She is a board certified family physician, and is one of the inaugural ABLM Diplomates as well. She lives in Davenport, Iowa, a Mississippi River community bordering her home state of Illinois. She is a graduate of Augustana College with a degree in Biology, and received her MD from the University of Iowa. She discovered ACLM in 2013, and found a group that shared her passions for what medicine should be!
Since discovering Lifestyle Medicine, she has also become a Wellcoaches Certified Health and Wellness Coach, a CHIP facilitator, and received certificates from the eCornell T Colin Campbell Plant-Based Nutrition course and Rouxbe Rx. She started a local Walk with a Doc chapter with her Veterinarian, and also leads a PlantPure Nation Pod named Heartland Rooted.
She serves on her local Medical Society Exec Board, and is on the Board of the Quad Cities Health Initiative. She is a stakeholder of the Food Rescue Partnership. Within ACLM she is on the Conference Planning Committee, the Clinical Practice Model Working Group, and the Community Outreach Committee. She was honored to have participated in the Summit on Happiness Science in Health Care earlier this year. She is also happy to announce that her local family medicine residency program allowed her to start a Lifestyle Medicine curriculum within their program this year!
