Beth Motley MD is a Family Medicine/Lifestyle Medicine physician with Prisma Health (formerly Greenville Health System) and Clinical Assistant Professor at the University of South Carolina School of Medicine in Greenville, SC. She is an early example of a student of Lifestyle Medicine. In her training, she visited a variety of Lifestyle Medicine physicians around the U.S., including Caldwell Esselstyn MD, John McDougall MD, Neil Barnard MD, and Ron Weiss MD, with a goal to explore different practice models and see how each has been successful in implementing Lifestyle Medicine in their community, in order to prepare for her own career in Lifestyle Medicine. Equipped with this experience, she was in the first class of ACLM diplomats in 2017. Although hired into a traditional Family Medicine role in a large hospital system, she has actively transitioned her practice to Lifestyle Medicine using the tools that she picked up along the way. Originally from Acton, MA, Dr. Motley studied engineeing at the University of Virginia and continued to Greenville, SC to complete her residency in Family Medicine. She is a core team leader of the Lifestyle Medicine Education Collaborative, an involved member of several ACLM committees, and a strong advocate for Lifestyle Medicine in her community.
